MEDIA, Pa. -- A total of 59 Penn State Brandywine student-athletes who compete in winter or spring sports were recently named to the Penn State University Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.
To land the academic all-conference distinction, student-athletes must earn at least a 3.0 grade-point average during their semester of competition or own a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater.
Overall during the 2016-17 academic year, 102 Brandywine student-athletes were honored as 43 were awarded during the fall, up from a total of 76 who earned the distinction last year. With 102 award winners during the academic year, nearly two-thirds of all Penn State Brandywine student-athletes earned academic laurels during their playing seasons in 2016-17.
The baseball team and three-time PSUAC champion softball team both had 14 all-academic selections to lead the way. Eleven members of the track & field teams (7 male, 4 female) gained recognition, while nine tennis student-athletes (5 male, 4 female) claimed the award.
