Forty-Seven Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-Conference Awards
MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine placed 47 winter and spring student-athletes on the Penn State University Athletic Conference All-Academic Team following the conclusion of the spring semester. To claim the award, student-athletes must earn a minimum GPA of 3.0 during their semester of competition or own a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater.
Nearly 62 percent of the 73 student-athletes competing during the spring semester landed the academic honor. Overall during the 2017-18 academic year, more than 61 percent of Brandywine's student-athletes received PSUAC All-Acadmic Team recognition.
Leading the way during the spring semester was the softball team, which placed all 12 members of the squad on the academic team. The Brandywine softball team, which has won four-straight conference championships, also paced all of Brandywine's teams with a cumulative 3.68 team GPA during the year.
Brandywine baseball had 11 student-athletes honored, while the women's basketball team earned nine awards after winning its second-straight PSUAC title. Men's tennis recorded seven award winners and men's basketball, also the 2017-18 PSUAC champion, claimed six awards, while men's track & field had a pair of honorees.
Brandywine's teams also did well on the field, winning over 88 percent (96-of-108) games against PSUAC opponents and six conference championships en route to its second-straight Chancellors' Cup.
