Brandywine Places 34 Student-Athletes On PSUAC Fall Academic Team

MEDIA, Pa. -- A total of 34 Penn State Brandywine fall student-athletes representing six teams received recognition on the Penn State University Athletic Conference All-Academic Team following the conclusion of the 2018 fall semester.

To earn a place on the PSUAC All-Academic Team, student-athletes must amass a minimum GPA of 3.0 during their semester of competition or own a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater and be at least a sophomore in both their academic and athletic standing.

More than half of Brandywine's 64 fall student-athletes earned recognition for the fifth consecutive year. Four of the six fall teams (men's cross country, women's cross country, men's golf, women's soccer) posted cumulative team grade-point averages of 3.10 or higher, topped by the women's cross country squad with a 3.58 team GPA.

All five members of the men's cross country team were honored, while two women's cross country runners claimed the award. The Brandywine's men's soccer team, which won the USCAA National Championship, and the Lions' women's soccer team, the USCAA national runner-up, each placed eight student-athletes on the academic team. Six volleyball student-athletes landed academic laurels.

In addition to success in the classroom, Brandywine's fall teams also had a strong semester in competition, winning PSUAC championships in men's soccer and women's soccer, while the men's cross country team was the conference runner-up and volleyball reached the PSUAC semifinals for the eighth consecutive year. The men's golf team placed seventh in the PSUAC and 17th during the USCAA National Championship. Brandywine's three team sports - volleyball, men's soccer and women's soccer - did not lose a regular-season PSUAC match for the second-straight year (27-0).
