Brandywine Places 65 Student-Athletes On PSUAC Winter/Spring All-Academic Team
MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine saw 65 of its student-athletes representing all eight winter and spring teams earn Penn State University Athletic Conference All-Academic Team recognition following the conclusion of the spring semester recently.
To earn a place on the PSUAC All-Academic Team, student-athletes must amass a minimum GPA of 3.0 during their semester of competition or own a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater and be at least a sophomore in both their academic and athletic standing.
The 65 award winners represents 63 percent of Brandywine's 103 student-athletes who competed on a winter or spring sport. Six of the department's eight teams posted a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or greater, topped by the women's tennis team, which amassed a 3.38 GPA.
Overall during the 2018-19 academic year, 99 Brandywine student-athletes received all-academic team honors. The department recorded an overall GPA of 2.98 with 11-of-16 teams tallying a 3.0-plus GPA.
The baseball team led all winter/spring squads with 17 honorees, while the softball and women's basketball teams both had 11 student-athletes selected. Nine members of the track & field teams earned accolades.
All seven student-athletes on the women's tennis squad were recognized, while six men's basketball players and four men's tennis student-athletes earned awards.
Brandywine's teams also performed well on the field this year, compiling a record of 71-19 against PSUAC opponents and winning conference championships in men's soccer, women's soccer and softball, while capturing a third-straight PSUAC Chancellors' Cup.
