Brandywine Places Sixth In USCAA President’s Cup Standings

MEDIA, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine athletic department finished sixth in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association President's Cup standings, which ranks a department based on academic prowess, during the 2019-20 academic year.

The USCAA award is based on team grade-point averages, number of National Academic Team honorees and overall department GPA during the academic year. Once those numbers have been totaled, each institution is ranked in each category against all other members and the institution's average rank becomes its final score.

Brandywine posted an average rank of 6.00 to finish sixth after placing 10th during the inaugural year of the President's Cup standings in 2018-19. Brandywine is one of three Penn State University Athletic Conference campuses to have finished in the top 10 in back-to-back years.

During the 2019-20 academic year, Brandywine student-athletes compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.21. Fifteen teams posted a GPA above 3.0, led by the men's tennis team at 3.49. A total of 27 Brandywine student-athletes received USCAA National Academic Team awards.

Mississippi University for Women was the overall leader, followed by St. Mary of the Woods and Christendom College. Penn State Schuylkill and Penn State DuBois rounded out the top five.
