Brandywine Earns Seventh PSUAC Chancellors’ Cup

MEDIA, Pa. -- For the third-straight year and seventh time overall, Penn State Brandywine was awarded the Chancellors' Cup as the top-achieving athletic department in the Penn State University Athletic Conference during the 2022-23 academic year on Monday.

Since 2008-09, the Chancellors' Cup has been given to the athletic department that accumulates the most points, based on conference standing and conference tournament finish, across the eight championship sports sponsored by the PSUAC. Brandywine earned 70.5 points, eight points greater than second-place Mont Alto. Greater Allegheny was third with 50.5 points.

Buoyed by league championships from its men's soccer and softball teams, Brandywine finished with its second-highest point total during the 15-year history of the award. Both men's soccer and softball earned 10 points, while volleyball and men's basketball claimed 11.5 points after reaching the semifinal round of their respective conference tournaments. Baseball was awarded nine points following a third-place showing in the PSUAC Tournament. Women's basketball earned 8.5 points, while Brandywine's PSUAC runner-up women's soccer squad and men's golf teams both landed five points.

Of the 14 campuses that comprise the PSUAC, only Brandywine reached the postseason in all eight of the conference's championship sports during the 2022-23 academic year. The last time one of Brandywine's teams failed to make the postseason came in 2019-20.

Brandywine has now claimed six of the last seven Chancellors' Cups. The department, which owns a PSUAC-high seven Chancellors' Cups overall, has finished among the top two in the PSUAC Chancellors' Cup standings in 13-straight years.
