Falcons Complete Weekend Sweep Of Brandywine

ASTON, Pa. – Fisher College finished off a three-game sweep of Penn State Brandywine by taking both games of a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon. The Falcons claimed game one 10-0 and held off Brandywine 17-12 in the nightcap.

Grayson Weber struck out the first five Lions he faced and fanned 11 hitters overall, while allowing five hits in six innings of work to earn the win in the opener. Fisher grabbed a 3-0 lead in the third inning and tacked on one more in the fourth before adding three insurance runs in both the sixth and seventh frames.

Pat Tackney (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) collected two of Brandywine's six hits and Troy Mucchetti (Haverford, Pa./Haverford) allowed four runs (two earned) and struck out a pair in 3 2/3 innings, but took the loss.

Fisher grabbed a 1-0 lead after one inning of game two, but Brandywine rallied for three runs in the third to pull in front. Tom Osenbach (Newtown Square, Pa./West Chester Christian) tripled in a pair of runs and then scored on Dan McMenamin's (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) RBI single.

However, the Falcons answered with an eight-run fourth inning to build a 9-3 edge. All eight runs crossed the plate with two outs.

Matt Masi's (West Chester, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) first-career home run, a two-run blast, brought Brandywine within 9-5 during the bottom of the frame, but Fisher plated four runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to pull away.

Masi added a two-run double to start a six-run seventh inning and finished a single shy of the cycle, while knocking in four runs in four at-bats.

Osenbach, McMenamin and Kevin Dougherty (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) all collected a pair of hits. Osenbach drove in three runs and scored three times, while McMenamin recorded two RBI and Dougherty scored twice.

Joe Samohod (Folsom, Pa./Ridley) surrendered six earned runs in 3 2/3 innings on the mound and suffered the loss, while Yamil Delgado tossed 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win for Fisher.

Brandywine opens its six-game Spring Break trip in Vero Beach, Fla., on Saturday with a game against Grace College (Ind.) at 1:00 pm.
