Miami-Hamilton Tops Brandywine 12-3

VERO BEACH, Fla. -- Miami-Hamilton collected 17 hits and took advantage of four Penn State Brandywine errors to post a 12-3 victory over the Lions at Holman Stadium on Sunday night.

MUH opened the scoring with four runs in the third inning and busted the game open following a six-run fifth.

Brandywine got on the board for the first time in the bottom of the sixth when Matt Masi's (West Chester, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) sacrifice fly plated T.J. Wiest (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley). The Lions added two more runs in the seventh as Kevin Dougherty (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) drove home a pair with a base hit.

Pat Tackney (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) led Brandywine at the plate with two hits in three at-bats and a stolen base. Tackney also worked one of nine walks issued by Miami-Hamilton pitching.

Nick Stewart allowed just one hit and struck out six in five innings of work to earn the win on the mound for the Harriers. Joe Samohod (Folsom, Pa./Ridley) dropped his second decision of the year after allowing 10 runs (four earned) in 4 2/3 innings. Tyler Michaels (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) fired 3 1/3 innings in relief of Samohod, giving up just one run and striking out one.

Brandywine and Miami-Hamilton face off again on Monday night at 7:00 pm.
