Lions Downed At Home By Marywood

MEDIA, Pennsylvania -- Marywood collected 14 hits and took advantage of 11 walks issued by Penn State Brandywine pitching en route to a 14-6 victory on Wednesday afternoon.

The Pacers scored twice in the first and after a scoreless second frame, added 12 runs over the next three innings to pull away from Brandywine.

The Lions plated single runs during the first, fourth and seventh innings before tacking on three more in the eighth. Anthony Bianchini (Long Island, N.Y./Long Beach) put Brandywine on the board with an RBI single, while Pat Tackney (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) drove in a run with a base hit and Steve Trainor's (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) double pushed Doug Medrano (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream Central) across home in the seventh.

Medrano added a sacrifice fly in the eighth and T.J. Wiest (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) knocked in the final two runs with a two-out single.

Tackney, Trainor and Tom Osenbach (Newtown Square, Pa./West Chester Christian) all recorded two hits for Brandywine, which tallied 10 overall, while Tommy Crumlish (Upper Darby, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) scored two runs.

Brandywine (7-14) returns to conference play on Sunday at home against Penn State Schuylkill at 2:00 pm.
