Brandywine Cruises In Final Non-Conference Game

MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine baseball team scored in every inning and rolled to a 12-0 rout of Williamson Trade School on Wednesday afternoon.

Doug Medrano (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream Central), John Gorgone (Ridley, Pa./Ridley) and Dan McMenamin (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) all collected two hits for Brandywine, which collected 10 knocks overall. Medrano also drove in two runs, as did Bradley Ulmer (Newark, Del./St. George's Tech), while Pat Tackney (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown), Troy Mucchetti (Haverford, Pa./Haverford), T.J. Wiest (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) and McMenamin all scored twice.

Mucchetti and McMenamin both stole home and Brandywine added two runs via Williamson errors to take a 4-0 lead after innings. The Lions then tacked on seven more in the third and one in the fourth.

Ulmer doubled in two runs in the third, while Gorgone, Medrano and Kevin Dougherty (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) all added run-scoring hits.

Steve Patterson (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) pitched the first 2 1/3 to earn his first win. He struck out four and allowed just one hit. Matt Gallo (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) tossed one scoreless frame, while Charlie Cooper (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) went the next 2/3 of an inning and Tyler Michaels (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) fired the final inning.

Brandywine hosts Penn State Wilkes Barre on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm.
