Baseball Begins PSUAC Tournament Friday Versus Beaver

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine will be seeded fourth and face fifth-seeded Penn State Beaver when it opens the PSUAC Baseball Tournament on Friday at Showers Field in DuBois, Pa., at 7:00 pm.

Brandywine finished the regular season with a 19-19 overall record and 14-6 mark in the PSUAC. With a victory over Beaver, Brandywine would not only earn its 20th win for the third-straight season, but move into the double-elimination portion of the tournament, which begins Saturday. The championship game is Sunday with first pitch scheduled for noon.

Brandywine owns a pair of regular season victories over Beaver, having earned road wins by scores of 12-1 and 8-6 on April 17. Brian Bosco limited Beaver to four hits over seven innings in game one, while Steve Trainor produced a pair of three-hit performances and Tom Osenbach scored three runs.

Bosco went 4-0 with four complete games and a 1.44 earned run average in four conference starts this spring. Osenbach led the team in nearly every offensive category, hitting .407 with 26 RBI and 25 runs scored, while Trainor batted .340 and drove in 18 runs.

Brandywine and Beaver met twice in last year's PSUAC Tournament with Beaver winning both games en route to a runner-up finish. The Lions last defeated Beaver in the conference tournament in 2013 when Joe Samohod tossed a shutout in a 4-0 win.

No. 3 Mont Alto will face No. 6 Fayette in Friday's first opening round game at 11:00 am. DuBois earned the top seed in the tournament, while Schuylkill will be seeded second.
