Osenbach Headlines Four USCAA Baseball All-Americans

MEDIA, Pa. -- Senior third baseman Tom Osenbach (Newtown Square, Pa./West Chester Christian) claimed USCAA First Team All-American accolades for the second-straight year, leading four Penn State Brandywine baseball players who landed all-American awards from the national association on Tuesday.

Earning honorable mention laurels from the USCAA were senior pitcher Brian Bosco (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven), senior designated hitter Steve Trainor (Broomall, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) and freshman center fielder Pat Tackney (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown).

Now a three-time all-American, Osenbach finished seventh nationally with a .413 batting average and ninth in on-base percentage (.493). Also a four-time First Team All-PSUAC honoree, Osenbach recorded 50 hits during his senior season, 12 of which went for extra bases, including a team-best four triples. He also knocked in 27 runs, scored 25 times and stole five bases.

During his 138-game career, Osenbach tallied 178 hits and 122 RBI, while batting .412.

The 2016 PSUAC Pitcher of the Year and First Team All-PSUAC honoree, Bosco posted a 5-3 record with four complete games and one shutout this spring. Bosco's five wins tied him for 10th in the USCAA, while his earned run average of 3.72 was 18th. He also fanned 32 hitters in 48 1/3 innings on the mound.

Trainor had the top year of his career, batting .337 with 19 RBI in 36 games. He collected 33 hits, six for extra bases, and scored 18 runs. Trainor also led the conference in sacrifice flies and was hit by 10 pitches, the second-highest total in the league.

Tackney enjoyed a standout freshman season after recording 27 runs scored and 24 runs batted in, while playing in 36 games. He collected 10 extra-base hits and 33 knocks overall for a .333 batting average, while posting a .444 on-base percentage.
