Wilkes Barre Takes Rubber Game From Brandywine

LEHMAN, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine baseball team dropped the final matchup of a three-game series against Penn State Wilkes Barre on Wednesday as Wilkes Barre won the contest 8-2 to claim two-of-three contests in the season series.

The hosts built a six-run lead through seven innings behind pitcher Jordan Choman, who defeated Brandywine for the second time in 10 days, before the Lions got on the scoreboard in the eighth inning.

Breet Sheeran (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) singled to lead off the eighth and came around to score when, three batters later, Brian Reynolds (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) drove him in with a base hit. After Brandywine loaded the bases, Brendan Ricciardi (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) pushed in a second run with a sacrifice fly.

However, Wilkes Barre got both runs back during the bottom half of the inning as Keegan Kisner's two-run double provided the final margin.

Brandywine was limited to four hits, all singles, while Sheeran reached base three times via walks. Tyler Michaels (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) suffered the loss after allowing six runs (three earned) on eight hits and striking out five in 6.1 innings of work.

Brandywine (10-14, 6-2 PSUAC) looks to bounce back on Thursday when it hosts Penn State York at Maple Zone at 6:00 PM.
