Brandywine Drops Final Regular Season Game

MIDDLEPORT, Pa. -- Penn State Schuylkill handed the Penn State Brandywine baseball team a 12-1 defeat during the Lions' final regular season game of the 2018 season on Monday afternoon.

Schuylkill scored three runs off of Brandywine starter Kevin Sessa (Broomall, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) in the first inning and tacked on five more scores in the second frame, building an 8-0 lead.

Robert Spitaletta (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge) went 3-for-3 at the plate, while Brett Sheeran (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) reached base three times, recording a single and two walks. Sheeran also stole two bases. Andre Pendleton (Narberth, Pa./Harriton) produced Brandywine's lone run with a solo home run, his first of the season, in the seventh inning.

Sessa suffered his first loss in seven conference appearances after allowing three runs during his only inning of work.

Brandywine (18-16, 11-4 PSUAC) will be the No. 2 seed from the Eastern Division in the PSUAC Tournament when it begins on Friday. The Lions will host Schuylkill, a team that, despite Monday's loss, Brandywine defeated in two-of-three meetings this season, at Maple Zone Friday night at 6:00 pm. The winner advances to the double elimination portion of the PSUAC Tournament (May 6-7 at Penn State DuBois).
