USCAA Selects Skahill Hitter Of The Week

NORFOLK, Va. -- Senior outfielder Chris Skahill (Media, Pa./Penncrest) was named baseball hitter of the week by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association on Tuesday after helping Penn State Brandywine to a 6-1 record last week.

In three games in the field, Skahill batted .556 (5-9), extending his hitting streak to six consecutive games, while also driving in two runs.

On Saturday, Skahill aided in Brandywine's doubleheader sweep of New Rochelle on Senior Day. In game one, he went 3-for-3 at the plate and collected an RBI and stolen base. During game two, Skahill pitched 4.1 innings in relief, earning the victory after limiting the Blue Angels to one hit and one unearned run and striking out three.

In 30 games this spring, Skahill is batting .351 with two home runs and 19 RBI. He has also scored 15 runs and collected four stolen bases. In addition, Skahill has made three appearances on the mound, posting a 1-1 record with 17 strikeouts.

Brandywine (18-16, 11-4 PSUAC) currently sits in second place in the PSUAC Eastern Divsion, but can earn the No. 1 seed if Penn State Hazleton defeats Penn State Wilkes Barre on Tuesday afternoon. If Brandywine remains the No. 2 seed, the Lions will host No. 3 Penn State Schuylkill on Friday at Maple Zone at 6:00 PM.
