Donahue, Michaels Earn PSUAC Player Of The Week Honors

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine swept the Penn State University Athletic Conference's weekly baseball awards as senior right-hander Tyler Michaels (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) was named pitcher of the week and junior third baseman Tom Donahue (Ridley, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) was tabbed as the league's hitter of the week on Tuesday.

Donahue produced a two three-hit games and a pair of two-hit games, helping the Lions to a 3-1 week. Overall, he batted .769 with 10 hits in 13 at-bats, while reaching base safely in 11-of-14 plate appearances overall. Donahue also scored eight runs and stole five bases in six attempts.

During his first season at Brandywine, Donahue is the PSUAC leader with 23 hits, 16 runs scored and 12 stolen bases. A starter in all 14 games, Donahue also ranks fifth in the league with a .479 batting average and has driven in four runs.

Michaels fired a two-hit shutout, the first of his four-year career, against Central Penn on Saturday night. He limited the Knights to just a pair of singles, while striking out a career-best 12 hitters. Michaels' 12 strikeouts were the highest total by a Brandywine pitcher in 12 years and one shy of the school's single-game record.

In four appearances (three starts) this spring, Michaels owns a 1-1 record on the mound. He has struck out 21 batters, ranking second in the conference, through 19.1 innings.

Brandywine (8-6) gets PSUAC play started Friday when the Lions host Penn State Schuylkill at 4:00 pm.
