Michaels Earns Final PSUAC Pitcher Of The Week Award

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine senior right-hander Tyler Michaels (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) earned his third Penn State University Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week selection on Wednesday following the final week of the season.

Michaels fired his fourth complete game of the year as he helped Brandywine defeat Penn State Schuylkill 5-2 in the first round of the PSUAC Tournament on Saturday. Michaels is now tied for the conference lead after winning his seventh game of the spring, striking out seven in seven innings of work.

In addition to being tied for the league wins lead, Michaels tops all PSUAC pitchers in strikeouts (57), innings pitched (63.0), complete games (4) and shutouts (3). He also ranks fourth in earned run average, pitching to a 2.43 ERA in nine starts.

Michaels will likely take the mound Sunday when Brandywine (20-15) faces Penn State DuBois in the second round of the PSUAC Tournament beginning at 12:30 pm in DuBois.
