York Tops Brandywine In Season Finale

YORK, Pennsylvania -- Penn State York built a 23-point halftime lead and rolled to a 87-56 PSUAC men's basketball victory over Penn State Brandywine Sunday afternoon in Brandywine's season finale.

York, which claimed the No. 1 seed in next week's PSUAC Tournament, shot 58 percent from the field, while limiting Brandywine to 37 percent shooting.

Backed by a 14-3 run spanning six minutes, York amassed a 27-9 lead with 7:17 to play in the first half. Josh Jamison's layup at the 5:02 mark started a 12-0 surge, swelling York's advantage to 42-15.

Marcus Turner (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) sank a lay in just before the halftime buzzer to bring Brandywine within 44-21.

York netted the first four points of the second half and Brandywine would not slice the deficit closer than 20 points the rest of the way.

Turner led all scorers with 18 points on 7-of-15 shooting, while Dimitri Burton (Philadelphia, Pa./Paul Roberson) added nine points and seven rebounds. Kenneth Murphy (Philadelphia, Pa./George Washington Carver) registered 14 points and two steals.

Tyler Martin connected on 8-of-10 shots from the field to pace York with 17 points. York recorded assists on 29-of-38 made baskets.
