Richburg Speaks At Legendary Hank Gathers Rec Center

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine head men's basketball coach Omar Richburg recently spoke to a group of youth campers during the Hank 44 Skill Camp at the Hank Gathers Recreation Center in North Philadelphia.

The free camp hosted boys and girls between ages 8-14. Coach Richburg taught basketball skills and drills to improve their game and discussed the importance of education, a positive attitude and good sportsmanship throughout the day.

Richburg, who enters his third season at Brandywine this winter, enjoys giving back to the Philadelphia community, helping teach important life skills to city youth.

"Anytime I have the opportunity to give back to our youth, I don't hesitate. Basketball is an excellent vehicle to teach valuable life skills and inspire the young kids to be successful," said Richburg.

The Hank Gathers Recreation Center is named for Hank Gathers, a Philadelphia high school basketball legend, who passed away during a college basketball game in 1990.
