Lions Topped By Maine Fort Kent 79-62 In Home Tournament

MEDIA, Pa. -- Travis Harlin poured in 31 points as Maine Fort Kent defeated the Penn State Brandywine men's basketball team 79-62 during the Lions' first game of its home holiday tournament on Thursday night.

Harlin shot 13-of-18 from the field and scored 25 of his points during the opening half, helping the Bengals to a 41-29 halftime lead.

Brandywine hung tough behind its three-point shooting as Cyrie Spencer (Sharon Hill, Pa./Academy Park) drained a pair of triples, including one that tied the score at 12 at the 12:10 mark. James Fisher (Philadelphia, Pa./Upper Darby) added a triple four minutes later to knot the game at 20-20 and the Lions took their first lead of the game on their next possession following a three-point play by Marcus Turner (Claymont, Del./Chichester).

However, the lead would be shortlived as Harlin answered with 12-straight points for the Bengals during a 12-2 run and tacked on a triple just before the half to give Fort Kent a 12-point edge.

Brandywine endured a five-minute scoreless stretch to open the second half and Maine Fort Kent took advantage, scoring the first 11 points of the stanza.

The Lions responded with the next six points and pulled within 15 on a layup from Fisher at the 6:53 mark, but Brandywine would get no closer.

Pat Gallagher (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) topped the Lions with 12 points, while Turner contributed 11 and Isaiah Wilmore (Philadelphia, Pa./Benjamin Franklin) tallied 10 points. Wilmore also grabbed a team-best eight rebounds and Fisher dished out four assists.

Brandywine was limited to 31 percent shooting from the field and Fort Kent held a 57-37 edge on the boards.

Brandywine (2-7) hosts Berkeley College on Friday at 6:00 pm in the tournament finale.
