Halftime Deficit Too Much To Overcome For Brandywine In Loss To Berkeley

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine faced a 29-point deficit at halftime, and despite a 22-3 second half run, the Lions could not overcome the hole and fell 92-69 against Berkeley College on Friday night.

Manny Folkes (Philadelphia, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) scored his eighth point of the first half to make the score 15-12 in favor of Berkeley at the 11:34 mark, but the Knights scored 32 of the final 38 points during the stanza to build a 47-18 edge.

Berkeley's lead swelled to 80-37 on a Ronaldo Eloy three-pointer with 9:50 to play before Brandywine mounted its charge. Shaun Norwood (Media, Pa./Penncrest) buried three triples and scored 11 points overall during the Lions' 22-3 run that brought them within 24.

James Fisher's (Philadelphia, Pa./Upper Darby) jumper got Brandywine as close as 20 during the final minutes, but it was too late for the Lions.

Norwood scored 17 points off the bench on 6-of-10 shooting (5-8 3PT), while Fisher produced 15 points and six rebounds. Folkes finished with 12 points and Pat Gallagher (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) dished out six assists.

Berkeley made 48 percent of its shots from the field and received 21 points from Johnnie Green.

Brandywine is back at home on Friday, January 6 to face Villa Maria (N.Y.) at 7:00 pm.
