Lions Drop Final Game Of Pittsburgh Trip

MCKEESPORT, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine drilled 12 three-pointers, but Penn State Greater Allegheny held off the Lions, posting an 87-76 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Cyrie Spencer (Sharon Hill, Pa./Academy Park), Shaun Norwood (Media, Pa./Penncrest) and Marcus Turner (Claymont, Del./Chichester) all buried three triples for the Lions, who saw their modest two-game winning streak come to an end. James Fisher (Philadelphia, Pa./Upper Darby) added a pair of three-pointers and produced a 14-point, 11-rebound double-double, while also recording five assists and three steals.

Norwood, Spencer, Turner and Shafi Mohammad (Philadelphia, Pa./Hawbridge School (N.C.)) all finished with nine points, while Edward Sanchez (Allentown, Pa./Salisbury) matched Fisher with a team-best 14 points.

The Lions established a six-point lead following a Spencer triple at the 8:25 mark of the first half, but GA answered with the game's next seven points to vault in front by one.

Jeremy McMunn's triple gave GA a three-point edge with 4:25 to play in the stanza and GA would score the final five points of the half to lead by eight at intermission.

Brandywine's deficit swelled to 13 points before Mohammad jumpstarted the offense with a three-point play. Sanchez added six-straight points and Turner capped a 12-4 Lions' surge with a triple, bringing Brandywine within four at 53-49 with 12:37 to play.

However, Denzel Boyer-London took over for GA, scoring six consecutive points and eight overall during a 14-0 surge by the hosts that helped Greater Allegheny secure the victory.

Boyer-London made all five of his shots from the field, netting 11 points, and was one-of-five players from Greater Allegheny to reach double-figure scoring. GA shot 47 percent from the field, while Brandywine connected on 34 percent of its shots and forced 25 turnovers. A trio of players from Brandywine recorded three steals.

The Lions (4-13, 3-6 PSUAC) return home on Wednesday to face Valley Forge in their final non-league game of the season at 7:00 pm.
