Schuylkill Downs Lions 91-77

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. – Penn State Brandywine saw its bid for a third-straight road victory come to an end on Saturday afternoon as Penn State Schuylkill outscored the Lions 59-40 over the final 20 minutes to post a 91-77 victory.

Schuylkill led 21-14 near the midway point of the first half, but Brandywine rattled off 11 consecutive points over a span of nearly three minutes, building a four-point edge.

A three-pointer by Edward Sanchez (Allentown, Pa./Salisbury) gave the Lions their largest advantage of the half at 35-28, and after two-straight Schuylkill baskets, another bucket by Sanchez helped Brandywine to a 37-32 lead at the break.

Brandywine maintained a two-point lead through the first five minutes of the second half before Schuylkill made the game's decisive run, scoring 14 consecutive points to establish a double-figure lead.

Back-to-back Sanchez triples put the Lions' deficit at five with 4:12 to play and James Fisher (Philadelphia, Pa./Upper Darby) added a trifecta one minute later to bring Brandywine within two. However, Schuylkill answered with the next six points and outscored the Lions 19-7 over the final 2:52 to provide the final margin.

Five players netted double figures for Brandywine, led by an 18-point effort from Shafi Mohammad (Philadelphia, Pa./Hawbridge School (N.C.)). Sanchez tallied 15 points, while Fisher and Marcus Turner (Claymont, Del./Chichester) both score 11.

Derek Dimond scored a game-high 35 points for Schuylkill, which also held a 48-28 edge on the boards.

Brandywine (6-17, 5-9 PSUAC) plays its final home game of the season on Tuesday against Penn State York. Turner will be honored as the team's lone senior prior to the 8:00 pm tip-off.
