Fisher Ties Single-Game Three-Point Mark In Victory At Bryn Athyn

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – Senior James Fisher (Philadelphia, Pa./Upper Darby) matched his own school record he shared with two others by knocking down eight three-pointers, fueling a 96-88 victory for the Penn State Brandywine men's basketball team at Bryn Athyn on Friday evening.

Seven of Fisher's eight triples came during the first half as he poured in 21 of his 24 points during the opening 20 minutes. Fisher had previously connected on eight triples as a sophomore at Lycoming (Dec. 29, 2014) to co-own the record with Kyle Haggerty (Dec. 7, 2008 vs. Penn State Greater Allegheny) and the late Michael Menichini (Jan. 27, 1996 vs. Penn State Scranton). Fisher made eight of his 12 three-point attempts, while also collecting six rebounds and five assists.

Terrence Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Communications Tech) paced Brandywine by netting a season-high 25 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Brown shot 9-of-18 from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 at the free throw stripe.

Rounding out Brandywine's double-figure scorers were Rob Tindley (Lawnside, N.J./Haddon Heights) and Dwayne Coleman (Philadelphia, Pa./Delaware Valley Charter). Tindley poured in 17 points and dished out four assists, while Coleman produced 15 points and six rebounds. Isiah Cook (Reading, Pa./Reading) added eight points and Anthony Lattanzi (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) grabbed seven boards.

It was all Brandywine in the early going as Brown and Fisher combined to score 27 of Brandywine's points during a 32-6 run to open the game. The Lions' margin reached as large as 26 points following Tindley's triple at the 8:37 mark, but Bryn Athyn outscored Brandywine 28-14 over the final eight minutes and Brandywine led by just 13 points at the break.

Brandywine's lead moved back to 20 points early in the second half when Lattanzi sank a layup, capping a 9-2 spurt; however, Bryn Athyn charged back, closing within six points midway through the stanza.

Coleman had the answer for the Lions, sinking a put back before taking a long pass from Fisher to lay in a fast-break bucket. He scored seven-straight points overall and the Lions' next nine points, swelling the lead to 13 points with 5:25 remaining.

The Lions' lead would not dip below double figures the rest of the way as Brandywine sank six-of-eight free throws during the final minutes to preserve the victory.

Overall, Brandywine buried 13 three-pointers and 15-of-17 free throws, while shooting 48 percent from the field. The Lions scored 25 points off of 18 Bryn Athyn turnovers and received 40 points from their reserves.

Bryn Athyn was led by Rahim Washington, who scored a game-high 32 points on 11-of-17 shooting.

Brandywine (8-4, 4-0 PSUAC) continues its four-game road trip Friday at Penn State DuBois (8:00 pm).
