Barrouk, Hunt Shoot Brandywine Past Scranton

MEDIA, Pa. -- Freshman Bryce Barrouk (Glen Mills, Pa./Rustin) poured in a career-high 29 points and classmate Jacob Hunt (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) added 20 points as the Penn State Brandywine men's basketball team got back in the win column by topping Penn State Scranton 94-79 on Wednesday night.

Barrouk buried seven triples and was 11-of-21 shooting overall, while Hunt knocked down a pair of three-pointers and handed out five assists. Barrouk collected seven boards for the Lions, who improved to 5-4 in conference play.

Anthony Lattanzi (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) and Josh Smith (Glassboro, N.J./Glassboro) both recorded double-doubles as Lattanzi coupled 11 points with 10 boards and Smith netted 14 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.

Brandywine trailed 20-15 early, but the offense errupted, going on a 17-2 surge over a seven-minute span to grab a commanding 32-22 edge. Hunt's triple got the run started before Jordan Graves (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) gave the Lions the lead two minutes later with a free throw and Hunt capped the run with a layup at the 5:31 mark.

Scranton drew within eight, but Hunt answered with two free throws and Barrouk knocked down a triple and a layup to send Brandywine into halftime with a 42-30 edge.

Barrouk and Hunt combined to score Brandywine's first 13 ponits of the second half, helping to extend the margin to 14 points four minutes in.

Smith ballooned the lead to 20 points for the first time, sinking a layup with just under 13 minutes to go, and eventually the advantage grew as large as 24 points on a Hunt layup at the 11:07 mark as Brandywine cruised to the victory.

Brandywine forced 23 turnovers and collected 27 second-chance points off 18 offensive rebounds. The Lions held a 55-49 edge on the boards, while shooting 40 percent from the field.

Brandywine (9-6, 5-4 PSUAC) hosts Penn State Fayette on Friday night for an 8:00 pm game.
