Nick Burke completed his first season as head men's basketball coach at Penn State Brandywine in 2023-24.

Burke led the Lions to eight conference victories against PSUAC foes during his first season on the Brandywine bench. Senior Colin Hockenbrock was honored as a First Team All-PSUAC standout.

Burke arrived at Brandywine with eight years of coaching experience at the NCAA Division III level, most recently at Delaware Valley University.

During his two-season stint at Delaware Valley from 2021-23, Burke helped the Aggies to a nine-win improvement from the previous season during his first year with the team. DelVal gained its first postseason appearance since 2018-19, earning the No. 4 seed in the MAC Freedom Tournament. Overall during Burke’s two seasons on the sidelines at DelVal, he assisted the Aggies in winning 27 games. Burke was also charged with leading the team’s recruiting efforts as the recruiting coordinator on staff.

For six seasons, Burke was an assistant coach at Gwynedd Mercy University. From 2012-18, he aided the Griffins, annually one of the top Division III teams in the region, in winning 101 games. Among the team’s achievements during Burke’s tenure were the Griffins’ conference championship and NCAA Tournament bid in 2015-16, four top-two finishes in the conference standings and three-straight, 20-win seasons from 2016-18.

During his final two years at Gwynedd Mercy, Burke served as the team’s defensive coordinator. He guided the Griffins’ top-ranked field goal percentage defense in back-to-back years (2016-17 and 2017-18) and a top-three defensive ranking during all six years with GMU.

Between his time at DelVal and Gwynedd Mercy, Burke was the varsity boys basketball head coach at Community Academic Charter School in Philadelphia for three years. Burke directed the team to its first-ever postseason appearance and playoff victory in 2019-20, while coaching the conference’s player of the year. He posted 19 wins and helped six players earn all-conference awards in two seasons before his third year was cancelled by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Burke earned his bachelor’s degree in health and physical education from Messiah College in 2011 and received his master’s degree in sports science (sports psychology) from Lock Haven University in 2020.
