Brandywine Golfers Compete At Hazleton Invitational

HAZLETON, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's golf team was back in action on Thursday afternoon as the Lions claimed a fifth-place finish during the Penn State Hazleton Invitational at Valley Country Club.

Leading the Lions individually was freshman Brad Dawson (Southern Pines, N.C./Pinecrest), who carded a round of 88 on the 6,100-yard course. Dawson finished in a tie for 10th in the 29-man field, while classmate Connor Sadoff (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) was four shots behind Dawson, placing 14th.

Shane Freeman (Lower Gwynedd, Pa./Archibishop Wood) shot a 102 and Joey Craner (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) collected 114 strokes during his round.

As a team, Brandywine recorded 396 strokes, edging Penn State Schuylkill by six shots for fifth place, while the team champion was Penn College, which posted a four-man total of 329. Penn College's Jordan Wise (79) was the lone golfer to shoot below 80 and was crowned individual champion.

On October 3, Brandywine will have its final tuneup for the PSUAC/USCAA Championships at the Penn State Wilkes Barre Invitational beginning at 11:00 am.
