Brandywine Tops Schuylkill Invitational Field; Captures First-Ever Team Title

BARNESVILLE, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine golf team made history on Wednesday, claiming first place at the Penn State Schuylkill Invitational for the team's first-ever team tournament championship at Mountain Valley Golf Club.

The Lions bested the six-team field, posting a four-player total of 333 strokes. Brandywine finished four strokes better than Penn State Wilkes Barre, the team runner-up, by collecting its lowest team total since the program was reinstated as a varsity sport in 2017.

Brandywine recorded four of the top 10 individual scores on Wednesday, led by Sean Illanovsky's (Fanwood, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) third-place showing. Illanovsky carded a 79 on the par-72, 66-yard course.

Austin Aurillo (West Chester, Pa./West Chester Rustin) recorded the ninth-lowest round with an 84, while Brad Dawson (Southern Pines, N.C./Pinecrest) and Nick Anderson (Phoenixville, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) tied for 10th after totaling 85 strokes.

Connor Sadoff (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) recorded a round of 90 and while Jacob Sezna (Avondale, Pa./Salesianum) posted 98 strokes.

Brandywine will compete at the second PSUAC Invitational of the season on Monday at Penn State's Blue Course.
