Brandywine Golfers Open Season In State College

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine golf team got its fall season underway Thursday in State College at the Penn State University Athletic Conference Invitational on the University's White Course.

Brandywine finished 11th as a team, posting a team score of 391. Penn State Lehigh Valley won the invitational, besting Penn State Hazleton in a tiebreaker.

Brad Dawson (Southern Pines, N.C./Pinecrest) recorded the Lions' low round of the day, carding an 81. Chris DeLeo (West Chester, Pa.) registered a 100, while Colin Shane (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) shot 101.

Dan Nearey (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) completed the course in 109 strokes. Jack Bell (Chichester, Pa.) shot a 110, while Jake Shane (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) rounded out the Lions with a round of 132.

Brandywine competes at the Schuylkill Invitational on Wednesday at Mountain Valley Golf Club. The Lions are the invitational's defending champions.
