Brandywine Golf Team Opens Season At Mont Alto Invitational

MONT ALTO, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine golf team got its 2021 spring season started on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon at the Penn State Mont Alto Invitational. Playing a three-player scramble format, Brandywine's "A" Team finished in a tie for second, while Brandywine's "B" team placed sixth.

Brandywine Team A, which was made up of Alex Barone (Glenolden, Pa./Concord), Zachary Karlton (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) and Colin Shane (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) combined for a team total score of 61 to tie with Penn State Lehigh Valley for second place. The team was two shots off the pace set by Penn State Mont Alto.

Brandywine Team B, consisting of Jack Bell (Chichester, Pa.), Margaret Reynolds (West Chester, Pa./Westtown School) and Patrick Farrell (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley), posted a team score of 68 on the Penn National Golf Club's Founder's Course.

The day was highlighted by a birdie on No. 9 from Team A followed by a long birdie putt from Barone on hole No. 10. Reynolds sank a birdie putt to cap off a strong putting effort from her for Team B on the afternoon.

Brandywine is back in action Saturday afternoon at the Penn State New Kensington Invitational the Links of Spring Church.
