Brandywine Stands Seventh After First Round Of PSUAC/USCAA Championships

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine golf team sits in seventh place following Monday's first round of the Penn State University Athletic Conference and United States Collegiate Athletic Association Championships.

Five Brandywine golfers combined to shoot 361 at Penn State University's Blue Course. The Lions rank second among conference teams competing in the PSUAC Championship. Campbellsville-Harrodsburg (297) and Mississippi University for Women (297) are tied for the USCAA lead, while Penn State Lehigh Valley (335) paced PSUAC squads.

Colin Shane (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) paced Brandywine golfers by carding a 87 on the 7,200-yard course. Patrick Farrell (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) is one stroke behind Shane, while Zachary Karlton (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) recorded a round of 89.

Alex Barone (Glenolden, Pa./Concord) totaled 97 strokes. Jack Bell (Chichester, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) produced a round of 110 and Margaret Reynolds (West Chester, Pa./Westtown School) shot 118.

Kameron Gehring of CU-Harrodsburg and Andrew Granda of St. Mary of the Woods topped the USCAA field as both shot a two-under-par 70, while Anthony Sawarynski of Penn State Lehigh Valley leads the PSUAC Championship following an opening-round 74.

The second and final round of the championships gets underway Tuesday at 7:30 am on the Blue Course.
