Brandywine Earns Runner-Up Finish At Mont Alto

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine golf team finished as the runner-up during the seven-team Penn State Mont Alto Invitational at Penn National Golf Club on Wednesday.

The Lions finished just one stroke off the pace set by Penn State York, totaling a four-man score of 321. Host Mont Alto was third with 323 strokes.

Leading the way individually for Brandywine was Zak Karlton (Oxford, Pa./Oxford), who finished second in the 43-man field. Karlton's round of 76 was one shy of his personal-best score set one week earlier at the PSUAC Invitational.

Brady Foytack (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) and Matt Cavanaugh (Upper Darby, Pa./Bonner-Prendie) also posted top-10 showings for the Lions. Foytack recorded a round of 80 to tie for seventh, while Cavanaugh's 81 strokes were good for a tie for ninth.

Nathan Sauder (Pittsgrove, N.J./St. Augustine Prep) carded an 84 and Ty Coccia (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) totaled 86 strokes, while Jared Morris (Scranton, Pa./West Scranton) finished in 89 shots. Connor Thompson (Finksburg, Md./Westminster) rounded out the Lions with a round of 94.

Mont Alto's Ryan Small took home individual medalist honors by carding an even-par round of 72.

Brandywine will compete three consecutive days beginning Sunday when the Lions travel to Panorama Golf Course for a dual with Penn State Scranton.
