Brandywine Records Second-Place Showing At Hazleton’s Clark Luis Invitational

HAZLETON, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine golf team finished in second place at the Clark Luis Invitational hosted by Penn State Hazleton at Valley County Club on Monday afternoon.

The Lions' four-man team total was 333, five strokes lower than third-place Penn State Lehigh Valley's team total. Hazleton claimed the team championship by combining to shoot 310.

Brandywine's low score of the round came from Matt Cavanaugh (Upper Darby, Pa./Bonner-Prendie), who matched his career-low round by shooting a 78. Cavanaugh finished in a tie for fourth place in the 46-golfer field.

Ty Coccia (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) also finished among the top 10, recording a round of 82 to finish in a three-way tie for seventh place. Nathan Sauder (Pittsgrove, N.J./St. Augustine Prep) completed his round in 84 strokes, while Zak Karlton (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) carded a round of 89 and Brady Foytack (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) tallied a 93.

Jared Morris (Scranton, Pa./West Scranton) and Connor Thompson (Finksburg, Md./Westminster) rounded out the Lions' seven competitors. Thompson shot 104, while Morris totaled a round of 108.

Brandywine will complete its regular season Tuesday when the Lions host their annual home invitational at Kennett Square Golf and Country Club beginning at 11:00 AM.
