Brandywine Finishes Fourth In PSUAC, Ninth In USCAA Championships

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Aided by a strong second day, the Penn State Brandywine golf team placed fourth in the Penn State University Athletic Conference and ninth in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Championships, which concluded Tuesday afternoon at Penn State's Blue Course.

Brandywine improved its team score by 21 strokes on Tuesday, shooting a four-player total of 316, the sixth-lowest total of the day among the 18 competing teams. Coupled with its opening-day 337, Brandywine recorded a team score of 653. The Lions moved up two places in the national standings on day two, recording their first-ever top-10 finish, while placing fourth in the PSUAC standings for the second-straight year.

Individually, Brady Foytack (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) posted the low total for Brandywine, amassing 160 strokes (82-78) during the two-day championship. Foytack finished in a tie for 29th in the 108-man USCAA field, marking the best finish ever by a Brandywine golfer at the USCAA Championship, and 11th among PSUAC golfers.

Matt Cavanaugh (Upper Darby, Pa./Bonner-Prendie) also shot a second-round 78 and was one of five players to record a total of 162 strokes overall as he claimed 34th place.

Ty Coccia (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) paired his opening-day 84 with a round of 79 on Tuesday, while Zak Karlton (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) coupled rounds of 88 and 81 for a total of 169.

Rounding out Brandywine were Nathan Sauder (Pittsgrove, N.J./St. Augustine Prep) and Jared Morris (Scranton, Pa./West Scranton). Sauder tallied a 178 (87-91), while Morris totaled 195 strokes (108-87).

Lyon College finished nine strokes clear of Penn State Hazleton to claim the USCAA Championship, while Hazleton earned its second-straight PSUAC title. Hazleton's Dylan Antolick won both the USCAA and PSUAC individual medalist honors by shooting a two-day total of 146.
