Bio

Dennis Murray completed his fourth season as head golf coach at Penn State Brandywine in 2023-24.

During his four years at Brandywine, the Lions saw great improvement under Murray, finishing second at the PSUAC Championship and seventh nationally during the spring of 2021 before claiming a fifth-place finish in fall 2021. Brandywine placed fourth in the PSUAC at the 2022 and 2023 conference championships and recorded a top-10 finish at the USCAA National Championship for the first time, placing ninth in 2023. Five members of the team earned all-conference awards. Murray also spearheaded the Brandywine Invitational, the Lions' first-ever home tournament, and helped the department relocate its home course to Kennett Square Golf and Country Club.

Murray came to Brandywine from Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast High School where he served as an assistant golf coach. At Bonner-Prendie, Murray worked with student-athletes to improve techniques and scores in a competitive environment. He also initiated multiple fundraising efforts for the team. In 2016 and 2018, Murray aided in fundraising and organizing team trips to Northern Ireland. In 2019, the golf team from Northern Ireland came to the USA.

In addition, Murray has volunteered at the U.S. Open, most recently at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore in 2013.

Outside of golf, Murray was a referee-in-chief and instructor for USA Hockey for 11 years, officiating more than 1,000 games. He has provided leadership for officials and officiated numerous championship and special events throughout the United States.
