Penn State Brandywine Soccer wins PSUAC Championship!

Penn State Brandywine Soccer won the Penn State University Athletic Conference Championship (PSUAC) for the first time since 1989.  The game was held Sunday, 10/27 on a cold, windswept field at University Park.  Penn State Brandywine dominated their rivals from Penn State Beaver in a game that was never close.  Our squad spent the entire game in the opposing team's area.

Bill Walleekendeh amazed everyone with his hat trick and that is exactly what it was, plain trickery with his magic hat.  Walleekedeh's 3 goals came from his head served beautifully by three different Brandywine teammates; Mike Clapp, Frenc Baro and Jarvis Lynch.  Although those in attendance witnessed the spectacular play by Bill Walleekendeh, the Brandywine soccer team stole the show.

Hollywood couldn't have written a better script for the dazzling showcase of soccer brilliance delivered on the pitch Sunday afternoon.  The team dominated time of possession 76 minutes to Beavers 14 minutes.  Brandywine had their opponents chasing, lunging and confused from the start of the game.  Bradley Jule started the scoring assault assisted by Frenc Baro.  Baro maneuvered past two defenders making both opposing players fall to the ground before connecting with Jule who left the opposing goal keeper wondering what had just happened and then came the inevitable.  Like a movie without intermission or a directors cut Bill Wallenkendeh put the game away with two goals.

With a commanding lead the coaching staff substituted the starting line up and finished the half 3-0.  The second half started quickly for Brandywine as Bill finished off any hopes from the opposing team by finding the back of the goal with his head early in the second half giving the boys a 4-0 lead.  With a strong backup team to support the starters the coaching staff substituted the majority of its starting line up just minutes into the 2nd half; only after Baro and Mohammad Sesay hooked up for the 5th goal of day.

With just moments left in the game the sun broke through the clouds and brightened the pitch and the final whistle blew.  Brandywine's starters rushed the field and celebrated their first conference championship in 24 years with their teammates and fans chanting Brandywine!

Following the game coach Spangler was asked what he thought his teams chances were for a national championship.  "Our Coaching staff and Team worked hard to create a winning family and that is our plan, to win."

The team's win qualifies them to represent the PSUAC at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Championships which begin on Wednesday, 10/30 in Charleston, WV.  Brandywine will face off against the Yankee Conference Champion, University of Maine-Machias.  The team will leave Tuesday for the Championships.
