Lions Win Big On Senior Day

MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team honored its lone senior, Bill Walleekendeh (Chester, Pa./Chester), on Senior Day Tuesday afternoon and Walleekendeh responded with a five-goal performance in a 7-1 rout of Penn State Schuylkill, keeping Brandywine undefeated in Penn State University Athletic Conference play.

Walleekendeh, who scored five goals in a game for the fifth time this season and second match in a row, upped his nation-leading goal total to 32 in nine games. He is just four scores shy of 100 for his career.

Brandywine took a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute on Brandon Crochunis' (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) first career goal, which came off a feed from Brad Jule (Chadds Ford, Pa./Salesianum). Walleekendeh doubled the lead just under 10 minutes later.

After Schuylkill got within one with a penalty kick goal, Walleekendeh found the back of the net for the second time, tapping in a crossing pass from Jule. The same combination of Jule and Walleekendeh combined for Brandywine's third score when Walleekendeh headed in a corner kick from Jule early in the second half.

Jule's free kick goal at the 48:33 mark made the score 5-1 and Walleekendeh added two more goals to provide the final margin.

Brandywine outshot Schuylkill 30-3 and goalkeeper Joe Opdenaker (Lenni, Pa./The Christian Academy) stopped two-of-three shots faced to pick up his eighth win.

Brandywine (8-1, 5-0 PSUAC) visits Williamson Trade School Friday night at 6:30 for a non-conference match.
