Saint Vincent Ousts Brandywine In Overtime

LATROBE, Pa. – Ian Garay scored his second goal of the game with under one minute remaining in overtime as Saint Vincent College spoiled Penn State Brandywine's men's soccer season opener by topping the Lions 2-1 on Friday evening.

Garay's score was a header into the back of the net after a feed came after Sebastian Lambert on a through ball.

Brandywine was first to score as Chris Riebman (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) netted the first goal of his collegiate career by heading in Rajbir Lohat's (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) corner kick during the 41st minute. SVC quickly answered, tying the game less than three minutes later on Garay's first goal.

The Lions held a majority of the scoring opportunities, outshooting the Bearcats 12-4. Brandywine nearly took the lead during the final minute of regulation, but Lohat's header sailed just high over the cage. The Lions also recorded a pair of shots during overtime prior to Garay's game winner.

Will Scott-Norris (Wilmington, Del./Mt. Pleasant) turned away two shots, both in the second half, in goal for Brandywine, while his counterpart, James Antonopolous, made 11 saves for the Bearcats.

Brandywine (0-1) continues its two-game swing in Pittsburgh on Saturday with a 3:00 pm match at Pitt-Greensburg.
