Brandywine Shuts Down Rosemont

ROSEMONT, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine limited Rosemont to just two shots on goal during a 1-0 victory for the Lions' men's soccer team on Tuesday night.

The Lions, who improved to 4-2, held Rosemont without a shot on goal until the 81st minute, but the attempt was turned aside by Brandywine keeper Brandon Welden (Essington, Pa./Interboro). Welden added a second save with under two minutes remaining in regulation to help preserve the one-goal triumph.

Welden played the final 45 minutes in relief of starting net minder Will Scott-Norris (Wilmington, Del./Mt. Pleasant). Scott-Norris, who served in net during the first half and was not tested, was credited with his second victory of the season.

The lone goal of the match came on a penalty kick during the 18th minute after a Brandywine player was fouled in the box. Chris Riebman (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) took the penalty kick, depositing his team-leading third goal of the season.

Riebman recorded one of Brandywine's three shots on goal. Rajbir Lohat (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) and Nate Truett (St. Thomas, Pa./James Buchanan) also tallied attempts on cage.

Brandywine opens a three-game home stand Thursday against Johnson & Wales (Charlotte) at 4:00 pm.
