Brandywine Downed By Florida National At USCAA Tournament

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Third-seeded Florida National University downed Penn State Brandywine by a score of 7-0 during the Lions' first game at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament on Friday afternoon at the Princess Anne Athletic Complex.

The Conquistadors scored four times in the first half, including three goals in less than six minutes midway through the frame, and added three more during the final stanza. FNU featured seven different goal scorers, while Victor Aguiar tallied three assists.

Florida National recorded all 22 of the game's shots, 12 of which were on target.

Brandywine goalkeepers Will Scott-Norris (Wilmington, Del./Mt. Pleasant) and Brandon Welden (Essington, Pa./Interboro) split time in goal with each playing a half. Scott-Norris blocked three shots during the opening half, while Welden stopped a pair of shots over the final 45 minutes.

Brandywine (16-4), which saw its 12-game winning streak come to a close, will face No. 6 Johnson & Wales (N.C.) Saturday at 2:30 PM.
