Second Half Flurry Lifts Brandywine Over Immaculata

ASTON, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine scored two goals in a span of 34 seconds late in the second half as the Lions remained unbeaten on the season following a 2-0 victory over Immaculata on Saturday afternoon.

Both of Brandywine's goals came off the foot of Brandon Crochunis (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East), giving him four through three games.

The Lions (2-0-1) are undefeated after three games for the first time since 1998 when they opened the season with three consecutive victories.

With 18:23 remaining in regulation, Crochunis broke the scoreless deadlock, tapping in a crossing feed from Joey Cairy (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley). It took only 34 seconds to find the second goal of the match as the Lions ran the exact same look and converted again after Crochunis deposited a cross from Mohamed Camara (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby).

Brandywine goalkeeper Brandon Welden (Essington, Pa./Interboro) posted his second career shutout, stopping all nine shots he faced. Seven of his stops came during the final 45 minutes.

"I'm so proud of these guys for winning a gritty, 90-minute game against a well-coached Immaculata team. Brandon Welden was lights out today; he made five or six big time saves to keep us ahead," said Head Coach Jesse Zafiratos.

Brandywine looks to continue its winning ways Wednesday at Penn State Abington (4:00 pm).
