Lions' Comeback Falls Short In 3-2 Setback

ROSEMONT, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team scored twice during the final 18 minutes, but could not overcome a three-goal deficit and was defeated 3-2 by Rosemont College on Monday night.

Rosemont got on the board in the seventh minute and added to the lead when Kareem Devenish and Daniel Ortiz scored just 2:10 apart near the end of the first half, putting the Lions in a 3-0 hole at the break.

Brandywine dominated possession in the second half, outshooting Rosemont 10-3, and finally found the back of the net during the 74th minute on Mohamed Camara's (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) goal, his second of the year, off a free kick.

The Lions continued to pressure and found a second goal, this one off the foot of Daniel Willie (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby), with just 1:30 left in regulation; however, that would be the final of Brandywine's final of 15 shots on the night.

Grant Gonzalez stopped eight of the 10 shots he faced for Rosemont, while Brandywine goalkeeper Brandon Welden (Essington, Pa./Interboro) blocked a pair of shots. In addition to outshooting Rosemont 15-10, Brandywine attempted 13 of the match's 18 corner kicks.

Brandywine (2-2-2) opens conference play Wednesday at Penn State York beginning at 4:00 pm.
