Brandywine Topples Greater Allegheny 4-0; Advances To PSUAC Title Game

MEDIA, Pa. -- Top-seeded Penn State Brandywine will have an opportunity to win its third-straight Penn State University Athletic Conference men's soccer championship as the Lions knocked off No.4 Penn State Greater Allegheny in the conference tournament semifinals on Saturday afternoon, advancing to the PSUAC Championship.

Brandywine (14-2-2), which has won four of the previous five conference championships, will face either No. 2 Beaver or No. 3 New Kensington on Wednesday in State College for the PSUAC championship. Game time is slated for 4:00 PM on the West Campus Turf Field.

The Lions dominated nearly every area of the match, outshooting GA 46-5, while attempting all 18 of the match's corner kicks; however, the game remained scoreless for nearly the entirety of the first half.

Brandywine finally struck for a goal in the 44th minute as James Cellucci (Rosemont, Pa./Radnor) found the back of the net. After a Brandywine player was hauled down in the box, Cellucci took a penalty kick that was stopped by GA netminder Colin Bucsok, but followed his own rebound, driving the ball into the net for a 1-0 Brandywine lead at the half.

Twenty-one minutes into the second half, Brandywine doubled its lead to 2-0 as Daniel Willie (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) took a feed from Mohamed Camara (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) and sent a long blast into the corner of the net. Willie added a second goal in the 81st minute, giving him a team-best 19 this fall.

Brandywine capped the scoring at the 85:49 mark on a corner kick from Rajbir Lohat (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) that found its way inside the cage.

Brandywine, which avenged a semifinal defeat the last time it faced Greater Allegheny in the postseason, posted its ninth shutout in 10 PSUAC matches this season. Goalkeeper Brandon Welden (Essington, Pa./Interboro) stopped all five shots he faced to earn his 11th victory. Bucsok made 18 stops, including two penalty kicks, for GA.
