Brandywine Bests Mont Alto 3-0

MONT ALTO, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team upped its conference record to 2-0 following a 3-0 shutout victory at Penn State Mont Alto on Saturday afternoon.

Brandywine goalkeeper Zachary Ritz (Woodlyn, Pa./Ridley) turned away the only shot he faced, late in the second half, to earn his second shutout during his second start of the season. Brandywine held a commanding 9-1 edge in shots on goal and attempted all 11 of the match's corner kicks.

The Lions received a pair of goals from Joey Cairy (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) after Evan Roland (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) started the scoring just 2:11 into the match.

Tyler Skaer (Brookhaven, Pa./The Christian Academy), Axel Ayllon-Ortiz (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) and Brandon Rochester (Chester, Pa./The Christian Academy) all recorded assists on the Lions' goals.

After building a 1-0 edge at the break on Roland's goal, Cairy doubled the lead to 2-0 with his second goal of the fall less than 10 minutes into the second half. Cairy added an insurance tally at the 70:58 mark.

Brandywine (4-4-1, 2-0 PSUAC) hosts Penn State Scranton on Wednesday at 4:00 pm.
