2021 national-championship winning head coach Tom Greenawalt comlpeted his fifth year at Penn State Brandywine in 2023.

In 2023, Greenawalt guided Brandywine to its seventh-straight PSUAC championship and appearance at the USCAA Tournament. The Lions, winners of 18 matches, were paced by USCAA National Player of the Year Chris Manful, who was one of four all-Americans on the team for the second-straight year.

Greenawalt led Brandywine to one of the finest seasons in its history in 2022 as the Lions went undefeated during the regular season for the first time since 1989. Greenawalt helped Brandywine capture its sixth-straight PSUAC title overall and third during his tenure. Chris Manful became the second-straight Lion to pace the USCAA in scoring and was named PSUAC Player of the Year. Manful was one-of-four all-Americans and one-of-nine all-conference selections. Brandywine's defense was also stout, producing a USCAA-leading 15 shutouts.

Following a year-long pause brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, Greenawalt guided Brandywine to the second national championship in school history. Brandywine, which won a school record 19 matches, defeated Five Towns College 3-0 to capture the team's second national title. Under Greenawalt's guidance, Brandywine also claimed its fifth-straight conference championship and rolled through conference play with an undefeated mark for the fifth consecutive year. The Lions featured four all-Americans, including the nation's leading scorer in sophomore Alex Sydor, while posting a USCAA-high 15 shutouts.

During his first year, Greenawalt guided the Lions to 17 victories, the second-highest, single-season total in team history, while capturing the PSUAC championship after going undefeated in conference play. Brandywine featured 10 all-conference performers and four all-Americans on a team that reached the USCAA National Championship.

Greenawalt arrived at Brandywine with seven years of head coaching experience at the NCAA Division III level where he compiled 79 total victories and four postseason appearances. Greenawalt spent three seasons as head women’s soccer coach at Albright College beginning in 2002, adding head men’s soccer coaching duties for the Lions in 2003, before moving on to Rutgers-Camden, where he was head women’s soccer coach from 2004-08.

A National “B” licensed coach, Greenawalt got his start in the college coaching ranks as a graduate assistant at Washington College in 1999. He served as an assistant coach at Haverford College during the 2001 season.

Greenawalt also owns professional playing experience, competing in 11 years of professional soccer for the Ocean City Barons, Reading Rage and Lehigh Valley Steamers. While playing for the Reading Rage, Greenawalt completed additional duties as the club’s camp director for four years.

Currently, Greenawalt is an assistant coach for the Top Shelf boys 2004 travel team, a capacity he has served in since 2013.

A former all-state high school soccer standout, Greenawalt was a four-year letter winner at Division I Marshall University on the men’s soccer team. He earned all-region and academic all-conference honors, while receiving his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and legal studies in 1999.
