Brandywine Bests Immaculata For Second-Straight Win

MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's tennis team downed Immaculata University 7-2 on Monday afternoon as the Lions earned their second consecutive triumph to begin the spring season.

Brandywine won five of the six singles matches, including four in straight sets. Wenceslao Lara (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick Township) earned a No. 1 singles victory by identical set scores of 6-2, 6-2, while Aryaman Bhardwaj (Lilburn, Ga./Brookwood) claimed his No. 3 singles win by the same counts.

Ian Lillard (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) blanked his opponent 6-0, 6-0 during the sixth singles flight and Stevie DiSipio (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) was also a straight-set winner, posting a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 5. Victor Ficarra (Glenmoore, Pa./Downingtown STEM Academy) dropped his first set 1-6, but bounced back to claim No. 4 singles for the Lions by winning the final two frames 6-2, 6-4.

Brandywine earned a pair of doubles points, claiming the second and third flights. Lara and Ficarra eased to an 8-0 triumph at No. 2, while DiSipio and Lillard were 8-1 winners at No. 3.

Brandywine (2-1) makes the short trip to Neumann University Wednesday afternoon for a 3:30 pm match.
