Brandywine Drops Season Finale To Rutgers-Camden

MEDIA, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine men's tennis team closed out the 2019 season with a 7-2 home defeat at the hands of Rutgers-Camden on Saturday afternoon.

Both of Brandywine's victories came during singles action. Ian Lillard (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) claimed a 7-6, 6-1 triumph at No. 3 singles, while Stevie DiSipio (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) outlasted Vatsal Patel in three sets (2-6, 6-2, 6-4) at No. 4.

Aditya Kommoju (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) and Victor Ficarra (Glenmoore, Pa./Downingtown STEM Academy) both claimed six points during their matches, but fell in straight sets, and Wenceslao Lara (North Brunswick Twp., N.J./North Brunswick) earned five points at No. 1 singles.

The Scarlet Raptors swept all three doubles matches and then won four-of-six singles bouts to win the match.

Brandywine finished the season with a record of 8-3, its most successful season since winning the PSUAC in 2011.
