Track & Field Finishes Out Regular Season At Widener Invitational

CHESTER, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's and women's track and field teams capped the program's first regular season at the Widener Invitational on Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

The Lions will next compete at the USCAA Championships in New York on the campus of SUNY Delhi on April 29.

Raheem Naughty (Philadelphia, Pa./Boys Latin) posted the top time of five Brandywine runners at 200 meters (23.40). Nate Sobers (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) finished in 24.64, while Jasper Seay (Landenberg, Pa./Kennett) crossed the finish line in 25.05. Jamir Walker's (Secane, Pa./Upper Darby) time of 27.55 was just 0.42 seconds faster than Paul Reddick's (Philadelphia, Pa./Mastery Charter).

The Lions also had five competitors run the 800-meter race, which was paced by Seay's mark of 2:11.26. David Irby (Glenolden, Pa./Sun Valley) was next to cross the finish line (2:17.18), while Naughty posted a time of 2:23.56 and Isaiah Gordon (Chester, Pa./Chichester) ran to a time of 2:26.27. Bashir Abdulhameed (Yeadon, Pa.) finished in 2:37.60.

Sobers ran the 400 meters in a time of 53.40, while in long distance races, John Li (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) sped to a 18:47.40 at 5,000 meters and Brooke Theveny (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) posted a time of 6:43.44 at 1,500 meters.

Two members of the men's squad competed in field events as Walker's top long jump was 5.02 meters and James Uyanna (Philadelphia, Pa./John Bartram) tossed the shot put 8.7 meters.
