Brandywine Continues Indoor Slate At Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine's inaugural indoor track and field season continued on Saturday at the Frank Colden Invitational on the campus of Ursinus College.

Leading Brandywine on Saturday was freshman Taufiq Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./World Communications Charter), who reached the finals of the 60-meter dash. During preliminaries, Brown's 7.36-second sprint was good for 10th in the 63-competitor field, sending him to the finals. He finished 11th overall in the event after running to a time of 7.34 seconds during the final round.

Additionally, Brown placed in the top half at the 200-meter dash, posting a time of 24.58 seconds, good for 20th in the 53-man field.

Michael DiOrio (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) also ran in the 60-meter and 200-meter events. DiOrior posted a time of 7.74 seconds at 60 meters to place 36th, while clocking in with 26.30 seconds at 200 meters.

Following a top-10 finish last week at NCAA Division I Lehigh University's meet, Caleb Madison (Brookhaven, Pa./Delaware County Christian) bested his shot put throw, registering 9.49 meters. Last week at Lehigh, Madison's 9.38-meter toss placed him ninth.

William Ortiz (Queens, N.Y./Martin Luther School) competed in a pair of long-distance runs: the 400-meter and 800-meter races. He posted a time of 1:03 at 400 meters and closed the day by crossing the finish line in 2:04 at 800 meters.

Brandywine will compete in its third indoor meet of the winter next Saturday at the Albright College Invitational.
