Brandywine Freshmen Impress At Albright Invitational

READING, Pa. -- A pair of freshmen turned in impressive performances for the Penn State Brandywine indoor track & field team at Saturday's Albright College Invitational.

Michael DiOrio (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) won his preliminary heat of the 55-meter sprint after posting a time of 7.32 seconds. He tied for ninth overall in the 18-runner field, missing a top-eight spot and finals-qualifying time by 0.02 seconds.

At 200 meters, Taufiq Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./World Communications Tech) raced to a time of 25.95. His time was third-fastest, less than one second behind Tyreque Cabrera of Albright, who claimed first in the 18-man competition.

DiOrio also competed in the 200-meter sprint, running to a time of 28.60 seconds.

Brandywine travels to University Park on Saturday, Feb. 17 at the Penn State University Indoor Tune-Up.
